A journal can open the door. Attention can trigger a closer look. Neither can publish a dossier. Hadox keeps detection, scientific reading and editorial judgment as separate gates.

actually measures.
The composite is calculated only after at least two usable intervals spanning 14 days. Missing components contribute zero; their weight is never redistributed to make a paper look stronger.
Change in citations divided by the real elapsed time, compared with fair peers.
Whether velocity itself is increasing. This needs three observation points.
Current citation position among papers of similar age, type and discipline.
Whether positive movement survives across usable intervals rather than appearing once.
A field-normalised citation signal such as the provider percentile.
BaselineOne point or no usable interval. No momentum score.
Provisional / watchOne interval or an insufficient cohort. The ceiling remains watch.
AssessableTwo intervals, at least 14 days and a usable cohort. Full states become available.
